When the Muses You Know Fall Asleep, Just Be Patient

it’s been
a whole day
of this: staring
at the screen, waiting
for something
anything to
drip off
my mind to
the tips of my
fingers, then finally on
to fill the blank
page in front
of me
but it refuses
to happen, none
of my muses agreeing
to cooperate, not
even the six
cups of
coffee or the
16 degree cold
or the white-out snow-
storm, or even
the packing
of my
things for
a cross-country
move i’ll be making in
only two short
days. no
not
even that
was enough to
ignite inspiration as i
had originally
hoped, so
i’ve
just sat &
i’ve watched
and i’ve waited. for this.

  1. I really like this one a lot! That title especially. Then again, what title of yours don’t I like? I love how the entire poem is a meta-moment. Everything can be poetry if you let it. 😀
