The Day It Rained Hard In the Desert, And Then Stopped

you can’t
seem to find
a way
to

capture the picture
with your
camera,
so

you paint
it with words: the
image of
you,

dressed in
jeans and an off-
white hoodie, standing
on a

sidewalk in
the rain.
traffic rushing past
sprays waves
of

water rain water
drips from the
ends
of

your hair into your eyes
off the tip
of your nose.
you

look at your feet, run
your
hand through your hair, then
look up,
take
a

deep breath, lean
into the
sheets of warm
rain and
start

walking west on Bell.
