Turned Inside-Out Is Turned Rightside-Up, But You Never Truly Get There

finally, you’re falling
falling falling:
awake
since
long before the sun,
you can feel the night sky
pulling at your eyes
along with time,
pulling down
falling into
this thing called sleep
where anything
can happen
and does
and all
is fast forgotten without remorse.
retreating into another life
or a dozen
where
living and forgetting and
moving on are
one single
stride,
you’re falling
falling
dreaming sadly of
a life lived in waking like a dream.
